Reliving the Highlights of The Hoozels Rise to Music Competition in This EXCLUSIVE Recap

NEKOOSA, WI: Vocals, vibes, and votes! The summer of 2023 brought a wave of musicians to Rome, Wisconsin. Jordan Bain, Kylar Kuzio, Midwest Karate, Savannah, Strategic, and The Last Bottom Fig Plucker competed for the title of Hoozels Rise to Music Champion of 2023 on Thursday, July 27th.

At Hoozels Rise to Music, the audience along with our judge panel consisting of TJ Morrow, Connie Tomski-Faville, and Derek Jones, voted for their favorite performance. The musician with the most votes at the end of the night was crowned the 2nd Hoozels Rise to Music Champion and received 1,000 dollars, a radio interview on WIRI, and a year paid residency at Hoozels at the Lakes. Second and third place also received a small cash prize as well as the opportunity to be interviewed on WIRI radio. The top three musicians were all invited to perform the National Anthem at a Wisconsin Rapids Rafters baseball game. The musician who took home first place was Kylar Kuzio! The Last Bottom Fig Plucker took second place and Jordan Bain took third. Hoozels Rise to Music Competition was proudly supported by Ho-Chunk Gaming Nekoosa, Xtereme Party Bus Services, The Lakes-Inn, Friends of Rapids Music, Nekoosa Port Edwards State Bank, Rome Outdoors, Wisconsin Rapids Community Media and WIRI 105.5 FM.

Hoozels Rise to Music Competition is a safe space for musicians to showcase their music, gain exposure in the industry, network with other great musicians, and RISE UP in their music careers. When asked about the competition Jordan, a 2023 contestant, stated “Hoozels Rise to Music Competition is a great way for singers and songwriters to connect with other Wisconsin based musicians, get great feedback on their talents and gain some notable exposure. It’s a wonderful event put on by wonderful people who are helping foster the arts and the central Wisconsin music scene.
