Christmas Bird Count at Sand Valley

Looking for something meaningful and fun to do in Rome, Wisconsin this winter?!

We are excited to announce we will be hosting our 4th annual Christmas Bird Count (CBC) in partnership with the National Audubon Society on January 4, 2022! Please see attached for our poster!

Birders of all skill levels and ages are welcome - each group will have birding experts to help with identification and local guides to help navigate the area! It is free to participate!

  • Plan on meeting at the Sand Valley Clubhouse (1697 Leopold Way Nekoosa, WI 54457) at 7:00a. There will be coffee and tea available.

  • From the Clubhouse we will split into teams, with a bird expert leading each group, and bird in your zone area until noon.

  • At noon we will meet back at the Sand Valley Clubhouse for each team to hand their data over to be complied!

  • You are also welcome to bird from home - count the birds from your feeders and submit your data via email!

We continue to monitor Covid protocol and encourage you to participate in whatever way you feel most comfortable. We require masks to be worn during our indoors gatherings at the start and end of the count.

If you are interested, please RSVP to Chelsea Sorbo-Willard at csorbo@sandvalley.com by January 1, 2022.

Get outside, meet new people, learn about birds, start a new tradition with the family, have some fun, and be part of "the world’s longest-running wildlife census!"
