Eating Our Way Through Rome: Avocados Mexican Grill
America is often described as a melting pot of cuisines from around the world. From our very own American fares such as burgers and fries to traditional Italian, Greek, or Indian dishes, we have access to virtually every cultural menu on the planet.
But which is considered our favorite? Which one do we tend to head for most often when we’re going out for lunch or dinner?
There are, no doubt, statistics available to answer those questions, but we don’t need to check, because we know everyone loves Mexican!
So, it’s about time Rome has a Mexican restaurant to call its own.
Since they opened their doors in August, Avocados Mexican Grill has been serving up classics like tacos, burritos, and fajitas. And introducing us to unique dishes like the Piña Rellena, Camarones a la Diabla, and the Avocado Special - a halved and stuffed avocado with chunks of mango, onion, tomato, cilantro, and lime, served with lettuce, chipotle sauce, and your choice of shrimp, chicken, or steak. So good!
With an authentic Mexican ambiance - from the colorful hand-painted tables to pictures on the wall - you’d swear you were somewhere in Mexico City.
But here’s the best part; as you step inside, you’ll be greeted by a smiling anfitriona who delivers a big basket of fresh, warm tortilla chips and homemade salsa with just the right amount of kick. Go ahead, eat ‘em fast. She’ll bring you more.
Couple that with a Top-Shelf Margarita served in a salted mason jar, or a Modelo Negra in a frosted mug, and you’re well on your way to one of the best meals you’ve had in a long time.
I went with my go-to favorite, the steak fajitas, and they were fantásticas. I guess that’s what I do when I try a new restaurant - stick with the classics. But next time, for sure, I’m gonna try the Molcajete (look it up, it sounds amazing).
No matter what you choose, you won’t go wrong. They’re all deliciosos. So go ahead, give ‘em a try.
Avocados Mexican Grill is located at 386 State Highway 13 in Rome, Wisconsin.
