Every Dog Has Its Day

I yawned and gave a big stretch. It was a little earlier than I normally wake up, but that was more than OK because today was Tuesday. And Tuesdays I take my human to the dog park.

“Good morning, Bella,” my human said to me as she too woke up.

“Good morning,” I barked back to her. “Woof.”

While she doesn’t speak Golden Retriever, she almost always knows what I mean.

“Let’s get some water for you and a cup of coffee for me,” she said as she helped me down from the bed - yes, I let her sleep in my bed. “Then I’ll get ready, and you can take me to the park.”

My human loves going to the park.

And why wouldn’t she when the park is the Room to Roam Dog Park of Rome? Room to Roam is not your ordinary dog park. Situated in Rome’s rolling hills and surrounded by majestic pines, it’s so beautiful. And there’s so much to do there.

After I take my human through the double-gated security gate, she relaxes on one of the many benches while I run free on nearly ten acres of grass and clover. Sure, it’s all fenced in, but it feels like I could run forever and ever.

I have a great time playing with my friends too, especially Bobo. She’s a Springer Spaniel. I met Bobo at one of the cocktails and hors d’oeuvres nights. They do that sometimes. I think they do it for the humans, but I like it too. All my friends do.

I overheard one human say, “We have to spell out d-o-g-p-a-r-k at our house. If we say the words ‘dog park,’ the dogs go berserk! That’s how much they love it.”

Of course, they love it. They thought of everything at the Room to Roam Dog Park. There are shelters if it rains. There’s water everywhere. There’re toys. All kinds of toys. And if I poop, they even have little bags to pick it up. My human does that for me.

We always love going to the Room to Roam Dog Park, so today was a good day. Tuesdays are always good days.

Maybe my human will start to take me there a little more often. I guess I just need to ask.

“Woof.”

Room to Roam Dog Park of Rome is located at 1351 Apache Avenue, Nekoosa, Wisconsin 54457.
