It’s A Mud Life Crises
The gate drops to spring them loose. On his way to the first turn with a holeshot is a bright orange Yamaha wearing number 28.
The rider, not yet covered in mud, immediately pulls out in front. He comes out of the sandwash and opens it up full throttle as he clicks through the gears. In no time, he has a few seconds on the rest of the pack and they haven’t even logged lap one.
The crowd, admittedly and proud of it, is a bunch of groupies rooting for the hometown boy and they’re going nuts.
He battles with another Yamaha and a Suzuki for what seems like forever, and he keeps them at bay through the whoops. He’s feeling good. The groupies are feeling good. He’s gonna win this thing!
Then, just like that, he dorks out for three seconds in a rut and gives it all away.
So goes this all-too-familiar occurrence at Dyracuse Park in Rome, Wisconsin.
Whether it’s on a dirt bike, ATV, UTV, or a three-wheeler, Dyracuse offers some of the best off-roading you’ll find anywhere. In fact, at a full 700 acres of dirt, sand, and mud, Dyracuse is the largest off-road park in the Midwest.
Dyracuse has something to offer for everyone’s riding ability.
Not quite ready to hang with the big dogs, or maybe just feeling a little mellow? No problem. Go slow and enjoy the beautiful scenery that surrounds you in every direction.
Wanna see what you’re made of? Push yourself and your equipment to the edge on the half-mile challenge course.
Or, if you’re just looking to see how dirty you can possibly get in one afternoon, see how far you can make it in the mud bog or how much sand you can throw in the four-acre sand bowl.
There truly is something for everybody. There’s almost 12 miles of multi-use trails, a Motocross track, another ATV/UTV track, and a Supercross track. They even have a quarter-mile Pee Wee track.
A local motorcycle club, lovingly called the Rapid Angels, typically sponsors four race events each year at Dyracuse. Two in the Spring; GranPrix and Motocross. And two in the fall; Hill Climb and Endure. Who knows, maybe they’ll offer even more this year. If you’re not competing, you’ll want to be sure you’re there to cheer on your favorite rider.
From April to October, whether your hair is on fire or you’re just chillin’, you’ll want to spend the day at Dyracuse Park And why not? Everything you need is there. There are picnic grounds, grills, tables, a shelter house, children's playground, and restrooms.
Dyracuse Park is located at 1047 County Road O in Rome, Wisconsin.
They can be reached at 715-325-8014 or 715-325-8013.
