A Kwik Study
“This morning I stopped at your store to put air in my tire, but the stem came completely out leaving me with a completely flat tire. I don’t live in the area, so I went in…and asked if there was a tire place near by the store. The clerk sent out the manager. This kind soul came out to my car in the pouring rain and put my spare tire on for me. He was so polite, and kind to go out of his way to help me out. I want to compliment him and thank him from the bottom of my heart for being my hero today. Thank you, Kwik Trip, for the continued outstanding customer service!”
That endorsement comes from a very happy Kwik Trip customer, or guest as they’re called, at one of their Wisconsin locations. But that’s the level of service you should expect from any Kwik Trip including the brand new, shiny one at the southwest corner of State Highway 13 and Alpine Drive (County Road D) in Rome, Wisconsin – site of the old Pritzl’s Trading Post.
You see, the manager, in fact, didn’t go out of his way as the guest suggested. Nope, that is who they are and what they do everyday at Kwik Trips throughout the Midwest. So much so, that it’s actually in their Mission Statement;
To serve our customers and community more effectively than anyone else by treating our customers, coworkers, and suppliers as we, personally, would like to be treated, and to make a difference in someone’s life.
Since their humble beginnings in 1965 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, they’ve never strayed from the founder’s mantra; take care of our people and they’ll take care of our guests.
These aren’t just empty words. Ask any employee, or coworker, as they call themselves, and they’ll tell you it’s very real. They treat coworkers as family. There’s mutual respect and it shows.
They also put their money where their collective mouth is. Starting pay for coworkers is well above the national or local average. Full-time, and even part-time, coworkers enjoy profit sharing, and last year, like most years, many were awarded a very nice year-end bonus as a thank you for their hard work and continued success. Pile on top of that some of the best benefits in the industry, and you’ll have the makings for one happy employee. Sorry, one happy coworker.
The new Kwik Trip might be a little unique though. Management understands how important Pritzl’s was to the area. So, to help with the transition, they have rehired most of the Pritzl’s staff to join them. Together they will strive to earn the same level of respect and loyalty Pritzl’s enjoyed for 45 years. With that, they are ready to match or exceed your expectations every way they can. Though they may not offer all the same services as before, they’re confident you’ll be thrilled with what they do offer – 24 hours a day!
But where to start?
Everybody loves baked goods, so let’s start there. The Daily Kwickery Bake Shop will dare you to choose from over 50 varieties of baked goods and sweets. Good luck deciding if today will be a bagel day or a muffin day. Or maybe a donut, cookie, cinnamon roll, or a world-famous Glazer day.
Whichever you choose, be sure to complement it with a tall cup of the freshest “Bean to Cup” coffee from their coffee bar that is bigger than a downtown apartment! Believe me, you’ll never go out of your way again for a Grande (Or is it a Venti? Who knows?) from that Seattle-based coffee shop.
Talk about fresh. Unless you’re producing your own (and we know some of you are) the dairy is fresher than fresh. Milk goes from cow to shelf in less than 48 hours! Their extremely rich and creamy Nature’s Touch Ice Cream rivals that of that Danish sounding brand you only have on special occasions – or payday! Now that’s a nice surprise.
The on-site kitchen may surprise you too. With state-of-the-art kitchenry (not a real word, but you get the idea), their chefs prepare everything you’ll ever want when you don’t want to make it yourself. Pizza, sandwiches, burritos, soups, and fruit and vegetables are just some of the freshly prepared foods ready for immediate take away.
But the best, the very best, might just be the fried chicken. Prepared fresh, never frozen, your whole family will be licking their fingers. I don’t know if it’s true, but it’s been said that a white-haired gentleman in a white suit and black western bow tie was seen leaving with an eight-piece meal on his way back to Kentucky.
In fact, over 80% of what you’ll find inside Kwik Trip is either made onsite or at their proprietary central facility in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Sure, that means freshness, but it also means better quality. It means lower transportation costs and turnaround times, and in the end, it all adds up to a competitive advantage that you’ll see in their lower-than-the-other-guys prices.
And here’s the real kicker; your local Kwik Trip truly is local. Chances are you’re very familiar with the places where their everyday goodness is sourced from. You may even live or work there. For example, fresh chicken arrives daily from Westfield or Eleva. Cheese is rushed in from Wausau or Athens. Eggs from Burlington or Palmyra. Potatoes from Plover. And Milk from Sparta.
The other guys would have a hard time making that claim, wouldn’t they?
Oh, and don’t forget, they’re a pretty darn good choice for gas too!
So, whether you’re excited by the news, or maybe a little bummed by the departure of Pritzl’s, one thing’s for sure; sooner or later something will catch your fancy and you will, no doubt, become a happy, loyal guest of the new Kwik Trip.
The new Kwik Trip is located at 251 State Highway 13, Nekoosa, Wisconsin 54457.
