Earth Day Spring Celebration

Thursday, April 22, 2021


Guided Hike

9:00 - 10:30am
Meeting Location:
 Front of the Sand Valley Clubhouse at 8:45am (1697 Leopold Way)
Trail: Ridge Trail - 2.5 mile hike rated as difficult.
The guided hike will be hosted by Chelsea Willard of the Sand Valley Restoration Trust and will take about an hour and a half. The Ridge Trail traverses along the V ridge of the Mammoth Dunes Golf Course. The trail features expansive sand blowouts, red pine plantations, and a majestic oak savannah. Hikers will also enjoy spectacular views of the Mammoth Dunes Golf Course. Expect sandy/uneven terrain and inclines on the hike. Bring water and dress for the weather.

Birds : Virtual Info Session

Join Dr. Alan Haney (retired UWSP Professor) for a 45-minute illustrated lecture titled : “Birds and Climate Change: The Good and the Bad”. This will be a virtual presentation streamed LIVE on Earth Day, April 22, 2021.
Dr. Haney has 40 years of experience teaching ecology related courses and has published 12 books, the latest, Jewels of Nature, describes the lives of 92 species of birds common in the Midwest.
